Wildbook
Recognise each animal from photos, to follow wild populations.
Wildbook helps researchers identify individual animals from photos and work together across catalogues. It supports mark-recapture and social ecology studies, and can feed data into biodiversity databases such as GBIF and OBIS.
And where does AI come in?
Its image analysis engine, WBIA, works out who an animal is, which species it belongs to and where it is in the image: convolutional neural networks for detection and classification, image keypoints to recognise the individual.
