Terms of use
Version 1.0, in force since 17 October 2026.
This translation is provided for convenience. If it differs from the French version, the French version applies.
1. What MAUB is
MAUB (Make AI Usage Better) lists projects that are useful to society and focused on ecology, publishes articles about them and collects the needs its users describe. The site is published by Jérôme Buisine (SubAlpine.IT); see the legal notice.
The service is free. Nothing is sold on it, so there are no terms of sale.
2. What is open to everyone
The site's pages can be read freely, without an account: projects, needs, articles.
3. Your account
An account is needed to vote for a project, support a need, suggest a project or a need, and use the API.
- Sign-in by code only. You enter your address, you receive a six-digit code valid for 10 minutes, and you type it in. There is no password. The account is confirmed as soon as the first code is accepted: that is the proof that the address is yours.
- One person, one account. Votes and support count one voice per account. Opening several accounts to weigh more distorts what the community expresses: the accounts involved may be suspended and their votes removed.
- Stay signed in. Without this option, the session ends when you close the browser. With it, the device stays signed in for up to 90 days without a new code; the token behind it changes on every use, and copying it to another device signs both out.
- You are responsible for access to your mailbox, since it is what opens the account. Lost a device? Your account page lets you sign out of every device.
- You can delete your account at any time from its page. Your votes, support and tokens are erased; contributions that have already been published remain, no longer linked to you.
4. Your contributions
- Every project or need you suggest is reviewed before publication. MAUB may refuse it, edit it (spelling, accuracy, neutrality) or remove it later, in particular if it does not serve the common good, if it is promotional or if it contains false information.
- You confirm that you have the right to publish what you send, and that it harms no one.
- By sending a contribution, you allow MAUB to publish it on the site, translate it and distribute it through the API, free of charge, for as long as the service runs.
- Contributions are limited to 5 per hour per account. You can follow where each one stands in My account.
5. The API
- The API is reserved for confirmed accounts. Every call carries a personal token, created from your account page and shown only once. Do not share it: whatever is done with it is done in your account's name.
- Each account has 600 calls per hour, reads included. Beyond that, the API answers "429" until the next hour.
- Directory data may be reused, including in another service, provided MAUB is credited as the source with a link to the site.
- A token used to overload the service, get around the limits or collect personal data may be revoked, and the account suspended.
6. Project entries
Entries describe projects run by others. MAUB is not affiliated with any of them and does not speak on their behalf. The information is checked against the projects' public sources when written and may go out of date: report a mistake to contact@subalpine.it and it will be fixed.
Some projects are found by MAUB's watch in public sources. None is published without being reviewed and written up by the team. A project owner who does not want to appear on MAUB can write to the same address, and the entry will be removed.
7. Availability and liability
MAUB does its best to keep the service available and accurate, without being able to guarantee it. It is not responsible for the external sites that entries link to.
8. Suspension
An account that breaks these terms may be suspended, which immediately ends its sessions and tokens. To contest a suspension, write to contact@subalpine.it.
9. Changes to these terms
These terms may change. The version and its date appear at the top of this page; a change that affects your rights will be announced on the site before it takes effect.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by French law. Failing an amicable agreement, the French courts have jurisdiction.
