About
MAUB lists projects built with AI or that use it, for the common good. Here is who runs it, and how.
Who publishes MAUB
Jérôme Buisine, a sole trader operating as SubAlpine.IT, in Dingy-Saint-Clair (Haute-Savoie, France). He is the publisher and the publication director; the legal notice gives the rest.
Why this site
There is a lot of talk about AI, almost always in terms of productivity, markets and the race for bigger models. Meanwhile, low-key projects use it to identify plants, spot deforestation or read the labels on our food. Others would not exist without it: a non-profit can now code in a few weeks the tool it could never have paid for.
MAUB does three things: it lists these projects, makes the case in articles for another idea of AI: useful, frugal, transparent and open, and starts from the needs people describe to help build what is missing. The details are in Why MAUB, the criteria in the manifesto.
How a project gets listed
In two ways. Anyone can suggest a project: the suggestion is reviewed against the manifesto's five criteria before it is published. The watch finds others in public sources; nothing it finds is published as is, the team reads it, then either sets it aside or writes it up like any other suggestion.
