Spot ships from space, to help protect the oceans.
Skylight is a free maritime intelligence platform supporting ocean conservation worldwide. Ai2 publishes the models that detect ships in it, from Sentinel-1 (radar) and Sentinel-2 (optical and infrared) satellite imagery, together with the annotations used to train them.
And where does AI come in?
Detection models find ships in satellite imagery and estimate some of their attributes. They run in production, at global scale, in Skylight.
